How to Maintain Male Reproductive Health

It is important for men to maintain the health of their reproductive organs. Because the well-maintained reproductive health also contributes to the ease of your pregnancy program and your partner. There are many factors that can affect male fertility, ranging from unhealthy lifestyles, environmental factors, to certain medical conditions. You can reduce the risk of experiencing fertility problems by maintaining the health of the reproductive organs.

The following are things that can be done to maintain male reproductive health, including:

Stop Smoking and Don't Consume Alcoholic Beverages

Men who like to smoke and consume excessive alcoholic drinks, the risk of decreased sperm production and quality. As a result, fertility rates will also decrease, making it difficult for you to get offspring.

Maintain Weight

Male fertility can also be reduced if you experience weight problems, both obese and vice versa, have too low body weight. Keep your testes in a cool state

Sperm count can be determined by testicular temperature. To increase the chances of getting offspring, the testes must be in a temperature of around 34.5 degrees Celsius or lower than other body parts, which is around 37 degrees Celsius. There are several ways you can do to reduce the temperature of the testes.
  • Limit warm baths.
  • If work requires you to sit quietly for hours, take a short break to stand up and walk to another place.
  • If you work in an area that is hot, take a few moments to be in a cool place.
  • Wear pants that are comfortable and not too tight.
If the testes are at an optimal temperature, i.e. at cool temperatures, sperm production will also take place well.

Avoid exposure to poisons

Avoid yourself from exposure to dangerous poisons, such as pesticides, heavy metals including lead and mercury, and radioactive substances. Exposure to these substances risks reducing your fertility level.

Eat Healthy

Quality sperm can be obtained by eating healthy foods and exercising regularly. But avoid excessive exercise because it can trigger the body to release too much steroid hormones, which affect fertility. Also, make sure you get enough nutrition by consuming at least five servings of vegetables and fruit every day, carbohydrates, protein, and low-fat meat.

Have Sex Regularly

A healthy penis is an erect regularly. When erect, oxygen in the blood fills the penis and makes it tense. Having sex regularly, especially when a partner is in the fertile period is one way to get a baby.

Apply Safe Sex Behavior

To maintain your reproductive health, avoid risky sexual behavior by changing partners, and routinely carry out routine health checks to detect sexually transmitted diseases.

Circumcision

The skin of the penis can be a place for bacteria to breed. There are at least 42 types of bacteria found in the skin of the penis. To avoid bacterial breeding, circumcision can be the solution, because the folds of the foreskin on the uncircumcised penis run the risk of becoming a breeding ground for bacteria. According to some studies, circumcision can provide a variety of health benefits, including:
  • There are fewer types of bacteria in circumcised men than uncircumcised men.
  • Circumcision is also associated with a lower risk of getting HIV, penile cancer, HPV infection, and urinary tract infections. WHO even recommends circumcision as an effort to prevent HIV.
By applying the simple methods above, male reproductive health can be better maintained and the opportunity to have offspring becomes greater.
